WOOD AND WIRE RING

I have made plenty of rings before, but I wanted to combine the aesthetic I enjoy of a wooden ring with the additional strength of metal. So I started with a stick in the back yard, chopped it down to the right length and removed additional knots or branches. Got to work on the lathe and created a small inlet in the middle. I then wrapped a band of some 6-gauge wire within the inlet and pounded it flush and glued it in place. I filed down the wire to add a hatch pattern and used fine-grit sandpaper on the wood. I then dremeled out the inside sized to fit, added an oil finish, and this was the product.
